Gametrailers.com has unveiled yet another announcement coming out of the San Diego Comic-Con. That announcement is for the game “Soul Calibur 2 HD Online,” and it was announced on July 19, 2013. The game was revealed during a 2 minute trailer (which is available for viewing here) that ended with the announcement that it would be releasing in the fall of this year. The game is set to release on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.
“Soul Calibur 2 HD Online,” as its name implies, is an HD remake of the original “Soul Calibur 2.” The game will also feature an online mode so that players can battle with other human opponents over the Internet.
“Soul Calibur 2” was originally released on the Nintendo GameCube, the PlayStation 2, and the original Xbox. The game featured many fighters, several of which were returning fighters from the original “Soul Calibur,” which released on the Sega Dreamcast. Each version of the game also had a unique fighter to that version. The Nintendo GameCube version had Link from the “Legend of Zelda” series. The PlayStation 2 version had Heihachi from the “Tekken” franchise. Finally, the Xbox version had Spawn from the comic series of the same name.
“Soul Calibur 2” was, unfortunately, not the most balanced game in the series. In particular, the character Necrid (who has not made another appearance in the series since) was almost impossible to defeat if the player controlling him knew what they were doing. Despite the lack of balance, this game was one of the last games in the series to receive universal acclaim from critics and gamers alike.
